Born Oct. 15, 1981.Began diving at age 7.Selected to national team at age 11.Made Olympic debut in Atlanta in 1996 at age 14, placing fifth in 10m platform.Switched to the springboard and won silver at 1998 World Championships.Won silver medals in 3m springboard and synchronized 3m springboard at 2000 Olympics in Sydney.Owns unblemished record in major competition since 2000 Olympics.Won gold in 3m springboard and synchronized 3m springboard in World Championships in 2001, 2003, 2005 and 2007. Won double gold in 2004 Olympics in Athens.Has medaled at the Olympics with two different synchro partners, retired diver Fu Mingxia and current partner Wu Minxia.Coached by Zhou Jihong, who won China's first women's diving gold in 1984 in 10m platform.Has said that she will retire from diving after the Beijing Olympics.
